more breaking news... chopper 13..... fast and first over a downtown shutdown...las vegas..... where a man has been threatening to jump from the parking garage of "the d".... for hours now... 13 action news reporter..... marissa kynaston has been on the scene all day... she joins us live..... with the latest on the attempt.... to get this man down safely... marissa? several roads are blocked off-- including access to some parking garages-- so many people who work down here-- even visiting-- havent been able to get to their cars. negotiations have now been going on for six hours-- this is video from earlier when the man was dangling his feet over

forth-- on and off-- throughout the day. now-- it seems negotiators have able to at least talk him off the side of the building-- but he does still appear to be at the top of the parking garage. sot michael rodriguez, metro he's at the edge of the parking structure indicating that he wants to jump off, so our crisis negotiators are going to begin a dialogue with him and obviously our intent is to talk him down we do know his family showed up earlier-- police took them underneath the crime scene tape. but its not clear if theyve been helping out with negotiations. if you are coming or going through the area-- roads are still blocked off here this shooting in a town near wichita, kansas. cnn reports.. two people are dead.. including a gunman who opened fire in a business that makes lawn mowing equipment.

people running for their lives.. away from .excel industries. at least 2o people are injured. police say the gunman was an excel industries employee. no word yet on the other person who died in the gunfire.. or a motive for the attack. that's the latest from the breaking news center. new information on the search for the people responsible for a valley man's murder. "i'm begging. i'm begging. someone that knows to please come out and say something." the victim's distraught wife is crying for justice. metro says they're looking for four or five teenagers who they say robbed and killed heriberto diaz. diaz was shot to death saturday near lake mead and marion.. only 5 houses down from his home. police say he was walking home from work at paris-las vegas when the teens pulled up.. robbed him.. then shot him in the chest. if you know anything, you're asked to call metro right away. several members of the unlv

home from their road trip to boise state to find their apartment burglarized. the mother of stephen zimmerman tweeted this photo.. saying the door of their apartment had been kicked and the place was looted. among the items stolen was zimmerman's mcdonald's high schol all-american ring. metro confirms it's investigating the burglary. no word on whether any changes will be made to protect the players' homes. new developments in the battle over..... ride-sharing.... here in las vegas! arrested.... for posing as a high- school student! police say... the man went by the name "asher potts"... and... perhaps even more strange... didn't appear to be involved.... in any other illegal activity. they say... he was an active member of the community... near the top of his class... and in r-o-t-c. he's now being charged.... with identity theft and tampering with public records. chopper -13-..... fast and first over the scene of a massive house fire.... this morning. it happened.... in a neighborhood.... near decatur and the 95. 13 action news reporter... michael burton has more... on the mother and her son... left homeless by this fire. looklive intro: most of the devastation took place on the back side of the house. firefighters say the homeowner's son was sleeping on a sofa here in the backyard - right next to a space heater. first the couch caught on fire he house. chopper 13 captured it all! heavy flames - blazing the back corner of this one story home. firefighters say the fire broke out at about 6am.

watch as an 18-wheeler side-swipes his patrol car only seconds after the trooper returned to his car during a traffic stop. luckily.. no one was hurt.. but the car was totaled. the truck driver was issued a citation. a valley mother is furious.... after her child was late.... being dropped off by the bus.... and.... when she called to find out where he was.... no one had an answer. when "you ask, we investigate". contact 13..... investigative reporter stephanie zepelin.... took her complaints to the district.... to get answers. she joins us live from alta and buffalo right now... stephanie... this is where three year old christiano goes to school. he's in a special half day program for special needs children. and even though his house is less than five minutes away, it's especially important that he's in good hand when getting to and from school.

their children on safe both at school, and on the bus on their way there and back. christiano has cerebral palsy and gets picked up and dropped off at his home. but one day, mom jessica says things didn't go as planned. his bus was already 15 minutes late. 20.48.46 i called to find out where he was, i got put on hold for about ten minutes, 49 53 and they said, 'sorry we can't get a hold of the bus driver' 56 which immediately raised a red flag and it scared me that they couldn't find my child 49.00 jessica says when the bus finally showed up, the driver told her he had not spoken to anyone from the district. finally the person on the phone responded...saying christiano was on his way home. 20.49.29 he was standing right next to me, i already had him, the bus driver hadn't spoken to anybody 34 nothing 35 so there was a miscommunication and obviously the operator was trying to cover up whatever he was trying to do 44 jessica is furious. she feels they lied to her about where her child was. we waited for the bus with jessica today...just a couple

nats but she says that's not the norm...and the issues she has had are not a one- time problem. 20.48.09 we always have issues with transportation 10 the bus being late or not coming when it's supposed to 14 different bus drivers, they always have some excuse for why 18 because of christiano's developmental delays, he would have no way of explaining the situation to his mom or asking for help. 20.56.57 it's completely frustrating when you're supposed to trust the school district 57.00 we reached out to the district, and they told us they could not talk about this specific case. but they did send us a statement saying in part. "due to staffing issues, approximately 10 percent of bus routes each day are covered by substitute drivers or drivers taking on additional stops, which can result in late or delayed service." it went on to say they're committed to getting kids to school safely and efficiently. we'll have the whole statement in this story on our website, along with contact information

another powerful storm that pounded the midwest and east coast. the national guard is on the ground in waverly, virginia.. one of the hardest hit areas.. after a deadly tornado destroyed a number of homes and killed 3 people. this is something out of a movie. this is just destruction. similar scenes across pennsylvania where barns and buildings were ripped apart. the winds were so intense.. a coast guard boat overturned in new york on its way to rescue a disabled fishing boat. there have been more than 30 confirmed tornadoes over the last two days from texas to pennsylvania. adlib let's go to chief meteorologist bryan scofield and 'weather first.' high pressure continues to dominate the weather for the desert southwest which means that temperatures will be very warm and even hot to some through

the best we'll see cloud cover wise in the las vegas valley will be high level wispy clouds which will decorate the blue skies through saturday and sunday with tons of sunshine into next week. high temperatures will be about 2 short of 80 at its coolest on friday and could exceed 80 on saturday and sunday. temperatures will take a bit of a dip getting into next week but it won't be cold by any stretch of the imagination. current models push an upper level low through the northern edge of the state with the possibility of some slightly stronger winds on monday. that system will cool temperatures by about 2-5 for tuesday but that'll just keep temperatures in the mid and upper 70s. following that system another ridge of high pressure will push in from the west for wednesday, kicking temperatures back up into the upper 70s and even the low 80s possible by the end of next week. no rain is expected through the forecast period.
